Panic/anxiety attacks?!

Question: I get constant anxiety all the time, i know its something that needs to be treated. Lately ive been getting panic attacks. I know what causes them and all of that. But what are my options? I have insurance, but im currently a student living out of state and my insurance only covers ER visits out of state. What can i do? This is getting unbearable.

I have had panic/anxiety attacks since 1995 that came out of the clear blue sky! One minute I was fine and the next....well... my life changed as I knew it. I went to a psychiatrist and he finally told me no need to return as he thought it was a chemical imbalance and not something that had happened to me (rape, abuse, etc.). My family doctor put me on a combination of drugs....Zoloft and BuSpar as she feels a combination is the best way to go. I also take 1/2 of a 5mg Valium at bedtime. You can stop an attack with a Valium but the other 2 drugs are to prevent you from getting them in the first place. I still have "almost" attacks which are far and few between but they are still scary and then I rely on my deep breathing to get me back to normal. This is a very real disorder that can be completely debilitating but it can also be treated. It may take you several different doctors to find one who is understanding and willing to work with you in your treatment. If one doctor seems indifferent or makes you feel uncomfortable, go to another. I was lucky in finding my doctor who is simply in general practice.

1. you can wait til you go back home to visit the dr
2. save your money for ONE office visit. get on meds and make sure it is on the $4 program at walmart.

It would be worth it just to go see the dr and be self pay. I would call your ins and see what out of network benefits you have though. there MUST be something.

go see you school's therapist and see what they recomend

YOU NEED ADAVAN, TELL A THERAPIST ABOUT YOUR SYSTEMS, HE MIGHT GIVE YOU THIS!!

You may just need some short term medication for your attacks. Try breathing exercises and walking. Your diet may even cause symptoms. You will need to see the doctor for meds and blood test so call asap.
