Please help NOW!?!

Question: My husband works nights, he just came home and took a shower, in the shower he felt a lump, about the size of a walnut on his testicle. I am freaking out so bad right now. I will take him to the urgent care tomorrow, but is there any one online right now that knows about it? It doesn't hurt. And he is 24 years old. Please help with any info you have....Is there anything other than cancer that this could be?

Sometimes the only early warning sign that cancer is present in a young person is finding an unexplained lump or bump anywhere on the body. Testicular cancer is one of the more common types of cancer in young males. These are facts. You are right to be concerned. He should be examined by his regular physician as soon as possible. Do not go through Urgent care as this is not an emergency. What it is though is an area of concern that needs to be clinically examined to see if it warrants sending him to a specialist. You have done all the right things so far . . he found the lump, you are now aware of its existence, and he will go see a doctor as soon as possible for an evaluation. There is nothing you can do until he has this checked out. I know how worried you are and truthfully you will be worried until you find out exactly what this is . . if its benign . . than you can rest easy . . if it is a malignancy .. you found it early and it is treatable.

This is where the phrase . . stay strong . . takes on meaning.

Best wishes.

You know it can be a cist which is rather a big pimple, some of these can be cancerous, but not always.

I dont know...Just look in a phone directory and ring a doctor asap

they check for that when guys get a physical...i do not remember what its called. check WebMd.com

Yes, there are other things. It could be a cyst. It's not very common for such a young man to have testicular cancer so it's likely to be something else. But going to the doctor pronto is a very good idea!!!!!

there are many possibilities, stay calm and have him checked out as soon as possible

It could be a benign cyst.
I had a friend that got testicular cancer. He caught it early, went into treatment, and is cancer free.
It will probably be okay. Just take him to the Doctor as soon as you can!!

It could be a cyst, please don't panic. Go to the doctor tomorrow and get it checked out.

I work with a guy who said that when he was in his early 20s, he found a lump down there as well...and he got it checked out and it was testicular cancer. He had to go through the whole ordeal of chemo and such...but he's fine now at 36 and the most damage he had was that he lost 1 ball and he can't last as long during sex...but he pulled through. The earlier you get it checked out, the better hun- just go with him and support him as best as you can. It might not be anything at all- but it's better to know and keep on top of it.

Take care! My thoughts are with you.

It could be anything hun, just try to stay calm.

It may be a boil or a cyst, it doesn't necessarily mean it is a tumor.

Sweety, it could be several things...Some to worry and some not to worry..Anyways, the best option for you to do, is to just take him to the docs to get a checkup..I am sure everything will be fine...God Bless you.....

It doesn't hurt- schedule an appointment with your regular doc- saves on the Urgent care bill. they will most likely do a testicular Ultrasound to evaluate the lump. sometimes they will biopsy the lump, simple and they will make it painless

calm down- nothing you can do right now can change it. it can be a lymph node that is swollen and more than likely not been growing like CA would- since he just now noticed it
- most men keep a good check on their junk

OF COURSE, THERE ARE PLENTY OF CAUSES OTHER THAN CANCER, for example "hydrocele".
but the only way to know is medical examination. Do not worry, tomorrow is another day.

It could be HERNIA...a part of the intestine that goes down to the testicles. It can be surgically corrected. Even small babies have it. But, i would not really know. So better go see a doctor.

Don't panic, stay focused and calm. If there is no pain involved now, there is no reason for you to freak out.

it could possibly be a very small hernia. i wouldn't take a chance with it . take him asap to the Dr. testicular cancer is very treatable if caught quickly

There are several other less dramatic possibilities. I can't remember the technical term but my son Had similar condition where the tubes that hold the testicles and pass sperm can get twisted it may be a broken blood vessel. It may also be some other abnormal growth or it may be involved in the healing process of a past injury . Worrying does not serve any useful purpose.

If there is a lump and it hurts, you should go to the ER, because it could be a testicular torsion or an infection. If it is a torsion, it needs immediate examination by a urologist so that the blood flow can be restored, otherwise he could lose the testicle.

If it is warm , it may be an abscess or an ingrown hair, in which case it can be drained and he will be put on anibiotics.

If it is really just a lump and does turn out to be a tumor, benign or cancerous, the good news is with early treatment, there is a 98% chance of full recovery. Definatley go to the urgent care center (they may send you to the ER) or the ER today. Make sure it is a hospital that has a urology. they will send you for an ultrasound or a nuclear scan to check it out.

All the best.

I have had testicular cancer. You need to make an appointment with you primary care doctor asap. Go thru him to get to a urologist. The urologist will probably do a sonogram and then some x-rays and then go from there. The good new is that if you catch it early, it is the most treatable form of cancer. I caught mine early nine years ago. I had to have my testicle removed. A biopsy found cancer in the very center so they gave me 6 weeks of radiation therapy. The good news is that he will probably be alright. You do need to take this seriously though. He needs to take it easy until he sees his doctor. No running or sex. Depending on his job he might want to call in sick. Most testicular cancer is found from the ages of 22-30. Keep your chin up and don't worry, everything will be alright.

This happened to my husband about a year ago. Don't get worried yet, we panicked when we found it. I noticed it when we were messing around and he went to the next day and said it was nothing to worry about. This may sound bad but he said sometimes the testicles get sucked too hard or rubbed too hard it can cause a temporary lump. It was gone within 3 days and haven't found another one since. Still go to the doctor tomorrow because no one can judge what it is only trust a doctors opinion. Just don't stress over it tonight. It may be nothing.
