Anyone who has had experience with brain cancer in his family?!

Question: What treatment did the person get? How did it end? If the person died, how long did he/she die after the diagnosis? Sorry to remind you, I am just in a similar situation with a close relative...

There are so many types of "cancer" that it is impossible to make any deductions from a few cases if one does not know the particulars such as the location in the brain, whether it is benign or not etc
I will give you two instances. My step mother at 63 had a benign tumor. She was operated on but the tumor returned in about three months. It did not metastasize. It returned in the same spot with more rigorous growth. She died after her second operation.
A younger friend was diagnosed with a malignant tumor while she was pregnant. She was operated on and now 8 years later she is a happy mother.
So as you can see there are so many factors that make it impossible to prognose with any certainty.

There are different forms of brain cancer. Brain tumors can form from a number of different types of cancer. No doubt the diagnosis was made with imaging studies like CT scans and possibly MRI scans. In most cases there would be a surgery to try to remove the tumor and send the tumor to the pathologist to determine what kind of cancer it is. Knowing that will determine treatment like further surgery, chemotherapy and possibly radiation therapy.

I did have a close relative who had this. It's not really easy to say how that went because of the type of cancer it was - and it was a long time ago before there were better surgeries and options. If you can find out more - you may have a better understanding about prognosis and what to expect.

Your relative is going to need support through this difficult time and will you, since you love this person and care about how things will go.

I hope for a recovery and wish you the best.

My grandmother and uncle both died of cancer. It was first "found" in the brain. Both died in their fifties.

Both used tobacco products. My uncle blew me away when I visited him and asked if he was still smoking. He said he'd quit. I asked him how long it took to break the habit. He glanced at his wife and said it was the same day they told him he had cancer...

As far as the other particulars. My grandmother didn't last that long but it was in the 70s. My uncle died a few years ago and treatment has improved so much that he was able to spend significantly more time with his family while he battled the disease.

my aunt ended up with brain cancer in the end. her brain speeded up so fast you couldn't understand her. she was like a 78 rpm record talking fast and it would get faster. once it hit her brain she died shortly after that. talk to them know while they know whats going on. find out everything you want to know and just be there for them.

My first cousin had glioblastoma and lived for a year and a half. You have to research the disease and its treatments available. Don't be afraid to ask for a second opinion and get your insurance papers in order. So sorry.

Not sure of your financial situation but I would encourage you attend Anthony Robbins seminars - they are famous for changing people's lives.

Apologies for those who have seen my same postings to most people with cancer or other ailments but I want to let know the benefits of Essiac Tea because I have personally seen the results of my loved one after drinking it for less than 3 weeks and I want to help people out, to return the deeds back to the society. Some people with ailments at this stage would probably not have the intention to even search for info but to post a Yahoo Question and hope for people to give valuable info and advice, so I post this repeatedly.

Best.
