Odd question about HIV but I gotta ask...?!
Question: I have OCD and an acute phobia of HIV.
I am a virgin. I have never used IV drugs.
I am paranoid about little things and today my worry is as follows.
What is the probability of getting HIV from sitting in a substance containing HIV?
I went to Scripture Haven today and was picking up a book and going to sit down and read about the book.
I had to pee really bad but I decided to sit down and read anyways and would just hold it.
I sat down and whenever I stood up, I noticed where I had sat, there was a wet spot on the chair that was like the size of a quarter.
I am unsure if this was from me because I had to pee or what. I am really freaking out though because what if it was a substance containing HIV?
I do not wear underwear often so therefore, the only thing separating me and the chair was a pair of dress pants I had on.
It was right where my private area sat and my pants felt a little damp in that area.
Is it possible that I could have contracted HIV?

You have asked many Questions about HIV transmission. By your own admission, you have an acute phobia of HIV. I'm concerned that this phobia may be interfering with your ability to live normally.
Living with such a level of acute anxiety and stress is like driving your car with the gas pedal pushed all the way down--eventually your body will break down.

I was a healthcare teaching assistant in the late 1970's/early 1980's when HIV/AIDS became epidemic. Almost 30 years later, I am still a healthcare teaching assistant. I have also worked at a hospital and in a home health care agency; we had many HIV/AIDS patients. I have also lost friends to AIDS.
HIV is just not that easy to contract--it requires contact with infected blood, semen, breast milk, and vaginal fluids. Yes, HIV has been found in tears and saliva, but there have been no known cases of transmission via those methods. Period.
Your description of what happened is very helpful. What might have happened is, as you suggested, that you had to urinate.
It may also be helpful for you to seek counseling--some healthcare providers feel (and I agree) that OCD can be helped with medication and talk therapy. Of course, we here at Yahoo Answers are happy to help with the talk therapy part!

Well, was the wet spot there before you sat down..? most likely not. I believe it was probably perspiration from your private area. Ever notice when you are sweaty and sit down on a wooden chair, and then get up , there is a sweaty imprint of your butt on the chair???? So, it was probably your sweat. If it wasn't, it was someone else's. and HIV is not found in sweat except in MINISCULE amounts. it would have died immediately from contact with the air.
NO, it was 10000000000% IMPOSSIBLE for you to have contracted HIV. It can't go through your clothes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HIV is not passed through urine, saliva, tears, or sweat. You were sitting in your own pee. You have to have an open cut or wound that is fresh for the HIV to get into your body. YOU ARE FINE!
I used to be paranoid like that.... And NO you do not have HIV! It was probably a drop from someone's drink or something, and even if it was something gross there is virtually no chance you could get HIV from it. Relax!
