Is Hep C sexually transmitted?!

Question: Ok, the answer is YES, but... it is rare that you can get it that way. It is not like AIDS where you have sex with someone that has Hep. C and you get it. Usually people get Hep. C from either blood transfusions, Shareing a needle if they do drugs, even snorting after someone that has it you can get it. Also useing a tooth brush after that someone has got Hep. C, you can get it that way too. Smokeing a cigerate after someone can transmitt the virus to you. But drinking after someone or eating the same foods as them then the answer is NO!! You can go to the web site called: WEBMD.COM and find out more information if you need more information. It is a very tough diseases to have but.. it is treatable and in most cases cureabe. My husband has it and got myself tested and I DO NOT have it. We have been married for going on 4 years and we just found out he had it just last year. The Drs. said he probubly has had it for several years and just didn't know it. They where going to do some surgery on him (knee surgery) and they ran his blood work and that is how we found out.

I think all Hep is sexually transmitted.

Through sex, saliva or blood. Don't drink after people.

yes it can. i will leave the long discourses to others.

This comes from the CDC's web site:

Hepatitis C is a disease of the liver caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV). You may be at risk for hepatitis C and should contact your medical care provider for a blood test if you:

were notified that you received blood from a donor who later tested positive for hepatitis C.
have ever injected illegal drugs, even if you experimented a few times many years ago
received a blood transfusion or solid organ transplant before July, 1992
were a recipient of clotting factor(s) made before 1987
have ever been on long-term kidney dialysis
have evidence of liver disease (e.g., persistently abnormal ALT levels

By the way, Hepatitis A is not transmitted by sex. It is oral fecal transmission only. So if you eat something that has been contaminated with feces you get Hep A.

Hep B and C are sexually transmitted.
