Could her sleep problem be related to diabetes?!

Question: Okay, my girlfriend has this problem. She has no problem falling asleep but thats the actual problem. As soon as she lays down (it doesn't matter where she is) within approx 2 to 3 mintues shes fast asleep, even snoring sometimes. She gets plently of sleep at night when shes ment too. She works in a care home for challenging behaviour and does work long hours, sometimes 14hr shifts. However, this doesn't seem to be the problem. Im not the only one to think that she may have some serious health issue going on but what exactly?
She doesn't eat well to start as shes obbessed that eatting too much will make her put more weight on and by NOT eatting properly she will lose it this way. Ive tried to explain to her it doesn't work like this. Im thinking she could be lacking in Iron or its diabetes related?
Any ideas?
Shes a nightmare to get to go to the GP.

it could something simple like you say, lack of iron in her system, whice would cause he to be very tired. but it has been my experince that low iron will cause you to crave strange foods, things you would never think of eating. In my case I would crave raw steak right from the package. It was my bodys way of telling me I needed iron. But it could also be something a little more serious like hypothyroid, meaning it is under active. It cause you to be very tired as well as it is much harder to lose weight, amongst other symptoms.A little pill a day will correct this after a blood test.As for her eating habits her best friend will be eating breakfast to strat her metabalizem which will start the process of burning calories.I myself was a bad eater and thought if I ate less I often it would make my lose weight but it's just the oppisite.I"ve lost 30lbs by eating breakfast and walking for an half hour.I eat more ofter smaller meals or fruit and so far hve been able to maintain. As for her being stubborn YOU won't get though She has to want it for herself to make the changes. And when she's ready she'll feel 1000% better. This I know for sure I beat chronic fatiuge this way.I hope she will see she is worth feeling better for herself and she deserves too.sometimes change seems so much harder than it really is.I wish you luck and good health.

The body needs sleep to heal. Working the type of job she does is mentally and physically challenging to her. Different people need different amounts of sleep, so don't judge her sleep needs by what you consider the norm. She may require much, much more.

Not eating correctly can lead to nutritional deficiencies and fatigue. Make sure she takes vitamin and herbal supplements, while avoiding caffeine and energy drinks as these mess with the body's hormones.

Encourage her to eat a proper breakfast, whatever time of the day that it. Eating high protein meals with not make her gain weight.

Look for more than just one sign (fatigue) as possible diabetes.
Look for frequent urination (not being able to hold it during the night or for more than 2 hours).
Losing weight without trying.
Numbness or tingling in hands or feet.
Blurred vision.
Dry, itchy skin.
Bruises that take a long time to heal.

Working in a home for challenging behavior can leave anyone exhausted. Unless she has other symptoms, or if she's falling asleep during the day, she's probably fine.

she should be tested for it but then again everyone should be, I don't think that diabetes is the problem. Look for other signs, going to the bathroom more than usual, trouble with eyes focusing, headaches, constant thirst, weight loss with no change in daily routine ( weight loss in this case does not mean 2-4 pounds a week or two) In my case I lost 48 pounds in three weeks and was hospitalized ( had a 550 reading) As for not eating right this can put on more weight or not allow you to lose weight either. when you eat little and not properly you body goes in to stress and what my doctor called survival mode. You body burns less fat thinking that you are in trouble and tries to conserve fat cells for future needs. If she would eat small meals four times a day she would have a better chance of losing weight and may help her health. Please remember that in her line of work it is both mental and physical stress, a vacation may help.
