When will I get better? Has anyone else had this...?!

Question: Swollen throat, feeling totally knackered, I was running a temperature the other day. It's not as bad as flu but I've been ill for days!

Sounds like a bronchial infection (i.e. bronchitis) or a esophageal (throat) infection. Since you've been ill for so long consult a physician and, if it is a *bacterial* infection, he will perscribe some medicine for you.

Get well soon ;)

its a virus

drink lots of hot drinks and keep warm . take paracetamol and if you can get lots of rest

I've had it for two weeks, just better now after 16 days !

yes you will get over it. i doubt it life threatening.

Most throat stuff is caused by a virus, usually goes away in a matter of days. If you take a flashlight and look in the back of your throat and see yellow or white spots you may have strep and might want to see a doctor, even that can go away by itself. If you are sick for longer then a week you should see a doctor as it could be mono or something like that, especially if you have a fever that whole time.

Hope you feel better.

if you look in the mirror, and you have some white spots at the back of your throat, then you will need to go to the doc, and get an antibiotic, but if it is just fiery red, then the doc would prob tell you just to keep taking painkillers and drink plenty fluids. I am troubled with throat infections and I have found the best remedy is soluble panadol, gargle with it first and then swallow. the pharmacist will advise. Also some ice cream helps! I sympathise with you and hope you start to feel better soon.

Many are suffering with this virus that's around at the moment. It lasts around a week, but if you have a cough it usually lingers for several weeks. Paracaetamol will help perk you up a bit, but you just have to wait for it to go.
