Tendonitis takes a long time to heal (months to a year) and it won't heal if you don't stop doing the activities that caused it in the first place. Home treatment consists of rest, ibuprofen, and ice when it is hurting. Complete immobilization with a splint is helpful. When the tendonitis is not hurting, use heat and very gentle stretching. If you are unable to overcome the problems, the doc can give a shot of cortisone.

Sure. At first try icing and after a week or so begin using Moist heat. Rest the area and your body will heal it. Simple.

Tenonitis.

First, anti-inflammatory drugs, heat packs, and discontinue the likely causes of the condition - which is USUALLY due to a repetitive motion.

Second, if a little bit of rest and anti-inflammatories doesn't do the trick, find an osteopathic physician or sports-medicine doctor.

Tendinitis (also known as tendonitis) is an inflammation of a tendon (a band of fibrous tissue connecting muscle to bone) that causes pain, tenderness and occasionally, restricted movement of the muscle attached to the affected tendon.
Tendinitis can cause permanent damage to the tendons. The natural tendency to favor the painful area also can lead to stiffness.

Known temporary remedies include:

- Rest

- Immobilization of affected extremity

- Ice to affected area

- Elevation of affected extremity

- Use of over-the-counter nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (such as Aspirin, Advil or Aleve)

Medical treatments might also include the use of specific exercise programs to build muscle strength and range of
motion with a physical therapist after the acute phase.
