You can put the patch on immediately providing you intend to smoke NOTHING else - it will take a short while for the nicotine to work through into the body. Don't cut them in half - this can cause the ingredients to evaporate or become less effective. You should have bought a size appropriate for the amount you smoke. :o)

I did this two years ago. Hang in there. It gets better.

Read the directions. You cannot cut them in half. I have used the patch. They work, sort of. I still had the mental cravings but made me sick when I would smoke on the patch. Whats the point in smoking if you have the patch on. Takes some will power. Its not a magic patch. You have to want it as well. If you take the patch off, I would wait atleast a couple of hours.

or you can just simply stop smoking and you won't be using the patch or a lot of money on the patch

YOu can put the patch on immediately after butting out your cigarette. Once the patch is on, DO NOT SMOKE. The patch is designed to slowly release nicotine over a 24 hour period. IF you smoke while wearing the patch, you are subjecting your body to extremely elevated levels of nicotine which can cause medical problems.

The patch isn't really any more expensive than smoking, is it? In Canada, a week's worth of Nicoderm is about $25. At $10/pack and a pack a day, a week's worth of cigarettes are $70.. (Yeah, we pay a lot for smokes up north...) So if you follow the complete 6 week regimen and actually quit, won't it have been the best $150 you ever spent?

Good luck!!

I used the gum for awhile & it did not work. However, I did ask my doctor to prescribe me chantix which after 2 months of being on it I went from 2 packs a day to 2 cigs a day sometimes none. I hope to kick the habit this month completly.

I don't think there is A time frame for the patch and smoking-
I have no idea about chew, yuck!!!

Anyway, just don't wear the patch and smoke; you could have A fatel heart attack. You would be over loading the body.

Just be careful :~)

The patch can help, but I was not successful until I went cold turkey. Quitting smoking is the best gift you can give to yourself or to your loved ones. Its going to be tough no matter which route you take, patches, gum, medicine(I did them all) I quit for good 7 years ago, I still have an occasional urge to smoke, but it passes. When you first quit you think you need to smoke, after a few months you want to smoke. Just keep fighting the fight and you'll be successful.

First off, I don't smoke so the first part I can't answer.

However, I think you need to use it at full strength for it to work properly. I know they are expensive, but look at the long run.....You will not be buying those nasty cigs again. Is there a web site or number you can call on the box?

My mother-in-law started using the patch when she got the next urge to smoke again.

Drink lots of water to flush out the toxins, and if having something in your mouth is necessary, try what my husband did. (regular gum and breath mints). Good Luck Adam! You can do this.

I have used patches in the past but willpower has let me down, i have overdosed on nicotine before now and believe me it is scary. I got ill so fast before i realised that i was overdosed (i used a patch too strong) You should have your last cigarette before bed and as soon as you get up put a patch on. As for the cutting in half idea, that is ingenius! But i don't think it will work. Good luck to you

I don't smoke, so i can't help.
Sorry about that.

sorry dear

so u shud read the instructions carefully or listen to the answers of others
take care
