Ignore anyone who says your asthma is "in your head;" they don't know what they are talking about. Asthma is a physical condition of the lungs that is triggered by a variety of things, allergens and stress are two primary triggers.
Chronic asthma can cause constant productive coughing, but usually a doctor will perscribe something to relieve the symptoms. If you have asthma, you should have been placed on an appropriate medication regimen for your level of disease. If you have NOT been placed on a medication regimen, then you need to see another doctor, but be very choosy about the doc so that you get a correct diagnosis. To have two docs tell you you are asthmatic and NOT put you on meds makes me wonder about the doc's ability to diagnose asthma. Just a cough evaluation does not an asthmatic make.
A thorough evaluation by an asthma specialist (a pulmonologist) might be in order, in your case. This will require a series of tests, xrays, etc... to determine the severity of the asthma in order to treat it appropriately.

Did you knoe that asthma is 90% in your head? Try not to think about it alot and it is proven that ppl have gotten better.
Productive cough may be a symptom of asthma. You should ask your doctor to refer you to a pulmonologist for pulmonary function testing which can give you a proper diagnosis.
