Why won't my ears pop?!

Question: I don't know if I have a cold or allergies but for about 3 weeks my ears have been plugged feeling, and I have had a cough and somewhat of a stuffy nose. I can deal with the cold symptoms buy my clogged ears are drivng me nuts. I have tried, everyday, to close my nose and blow. This usually works for me, but not this time. I also use Sinucleanse (a neti pot) and that usually helps but again not this time. Anyone have any other suggestions on how I can pop my ears so that I can hear again. I'm losing my mind!!!!!!!!

OK, try putting your index finger behind your earlobe, in the divot btwn your jaw & your skull (technically your mandible & sphenoid? bone) gently stroke your finger downward ( you can kinda feel the groove) thats your eustachian tube, it will help move the fluid that is blocking your ears, do this several times a day youll probably notice a difference Hope it helps!!

I had this problem after scuba diving once - ears were plugged, tried drops of alcohol to evaporate the water, chewing gum, everything. Ended up going to the clinic and they had some magic stuff that cleared out all the stuff in my ears and I could hear perfect.

It usually happen when you've been swimming,
it wears off

This happened to me. It was simply a cold. I was sat one day eating lunch and I turned my head slightly and my ears popped. This drove me nuts, but it did eventually do away.
Good luck =]]

Try a few drop of Hydrogen Peroxide in each ear & hold for at least a minute or longer. Tilt your head & let it drain. Repeat later if necessary, but do not do more than 2x a week.

If you've had these symptoms for 3 weeks, it's safe to say it's not a cold. Allergies produces mucous both in the nose and the ear passages are connected, so they both get clogged. This is a safe home solution, use a Q-tip only for the area outside the eardrums. The other solution would be to see an enterologist (Ear, Nose & Throat doctor) who has equipment that can safely go into the ear and remove the debris without damaging it. I had a bit of a punctured eardrum which bled into the ear canal. After extensive pain killers, fungicide, and then removal. Worked like a charm, but I will never put strange/unsafe objects into my ears again.

If this is a cold you might want to try a decongestant.
