Stomach flu tragedy?!

Question: I got the stomach flu today and I am really hungry. I tried drinking gatorade but I threw that up so now I don't know what to do. any suggestions?

Also if you know any home remedies to cure the stomach flu, please let me know. I really need to go to school tomorrow.

You probably have a norovirus, which seems to be the most likely culprit at this time of year and given its prevalence this year.

I'm really sorry that you feel miserable, but there is no cure other than time. Try to stay warm and comfortable. Gatorade is good, if you can stomach it, but to keep it down you're probably more likely to be successful taking tiny sips a little bit at a time and well spaced. At this point in time, you may find that you tolerate water best, but definately drink what you find most palatable. Try sucking on ice chips a little at time if you're really hungry, but you're probably best to keep little volumes in your stomach, kinda like "throw up insurance". That little bit will make you feel better and keep you hydrated, but won't be enough to upset an already upset stomach.

It's probably best if you avoid school tomorrow if you can, even if you feel a bit better. You still are likely to be contagious, and it's not very nice to pass these kinds of bugs along if you can help it. If you *must* go, wash your hands often, bring some hand sanitizer, and some lysol wipes and clean everything that you touch as a courtesy to others.

The best thing about these viruses, is although they make you wish you could die, they are usually short lived, so rest assured you will feel better soon. Just take it slow when you get back to fluids and eating; start with clear fluids like broth and jello, and work your way up to regular food in small portions as you start to feel better. Some people like a bland diet of "white stuff", a BRAT diet (banana, rice, apple, toast) is tolerated usually pretty well and provides many of the electrolytes you lose when you're sick. That being said, go with how you feel, and go easy!

Hope that you feel better soon!

I don't know what to tell you, I'm sure that other will have an answer for you. I just wanted to tell you that I hoped you feel better. I hate being sick and I'm sure you do too. I'll pray for you to get better soon. I'm sure if your hungry you should be getting well. Try some really bland food maybe a little later on, like after you haven't thrown up in a couple hours or so. Like rice or dry toast. Thats what my mom always gave me. gatorade is good to drink too so I would say just keep trying. I know it sucks but I'm sure you'll fell better soon. God bless.

BRAT diet. BRAT diet BRAT diet BRAT diet.

Bananas
Rice(White)(Plain)
Applesauce (Unsweetened)
Toast (White)(Dry)

Gatorade is good, water is good.

If you just got it today, I wouldn't depend on going to school tomorrow because you are still "catchy" and could get others sick. However, this should dry up your system some and you should feel stronger after keeping stuff..ahem...in...for a while..

Good luck and feel better
