Question: I have recently been diagnosed with herpes 2 and i just really have some questions. I have only had one outbreak, and i don't klnow what they feel like when itz coming. Also will i always have the discharge that i have because it is just gross, and i don't know if i can really deal with it. Last but not least is it possible for my partner to have it but not show any signs becuase i told him i had it, but i didn't 2 months ago, but he said he hasn't had any sign or anything, and doesn't want to go get tested. Please help answer my questions. And please only somewhat intelligent answers. Thanks

I found out I had herpes last year, maybe about 3 or 4 months ago now.
Since then I have had no more outbreaks so it's likely you may never have another.
My doctor, however, told me that when an outbreak is about to occur, you'll usually feel a tingling sensation. Please make sure if it returns you use separate towels etc. Its highly contagious when the symptoms are present.

Regarding the discharge, I still get a lot of it, but you'll have to put up with it.. I don't think there's any way to change it.

My partner also got tested for herpes as he was worried he'd caught it from he. (I originally had a coldsore then ended up with genital herpes)
He does have type 1 herpes now, but has never had any symptoms or signs of the disease. There is a chance your partner has it but will never show any signs. If he does, I would recommend getting him checked out to make sure that's what it is.

Ask your doctor about the discharge. Were you prescribed to anything to suppress the breakouts? If yes, then you will most likely not have anymore discharge and rarely breakout.

and YES, its possible he has it with no signs. You got this virus from somebody and it most likely was him if you were together before you received your first breakout. If he is refusing to get tested then he is probably hiding something. MAKE HIM GET TESTED!! 1 out of 4 sexually active people have genital herpes, you didnt give it to yourself..

Well, I don't know anything about the discharge so I can't answer that part. As far as to tell when an outbreak is coming. It's hard to describe, but I'll try. It's kind of like an uncomfortable feeling down there. You will definitely know because it's not normal. It might take a few outbreaks before you realize it, but you will eventually know.
And yes, definitely it is possible for your partner to have it and not have any signs. There is one girl I know who has herpes 2 and hasn't had an outbreak in 2 years....and guess what, she just recently passed it on to her man. The virus can lay dormant which is how some people don't know they have it and can't track when they got it.

at the start of an outbreak it kind of feels well to me anyways like your cl*t is falling asleep or u will have a tingleling and or burning sensation in that area. for me at the begining i'm kind of itchy and uncomfortable down there. it was most likely your partner and he can carry the virus and not even know he has it, he may have trouble getting posative results on the tests anyways unless he has an outbreak. u can also carry the virus for a while because it can be dormant until an outbreak is triggered. if your outbreaks are really unbearable then talk to your docotor about medication to help with the outbreaks.

Don't upset by it. It is just a virus to most of the people after the careful managment. If you feel alone after get it, I recommend a warm-hearted wherpes dating site for you: http://www.stdpal.com. There are many singles with Herpes are finding support, information, and even love here!

the first few outbreaks are the worst they seem to get lighter as it goes on good luck and yes he probaly does have it.....

I have herpes type 1 genitally, but the symptoms are the same, it is only the frequency which can be different, so...

I don't get discharge at all so I can't help you on that one. All I would say is that when you first catch herpes it can upset your balance down there rather if you are a woman - many women get a yeast infection an the same time, or a bacterial one - I got a yeast infection so it is worth getting your doctor to swab you for any bacterial/yeast imbalance becasue you really shouldn't be getting discharge unless you have sores inside currently, the herpes is a skin infection. You really need to get tested. If it smells or anything, it is probably bacterial, if it is thick and cottage-cheesy or runny white it is probably yeast.

Waring signs for me - I often don't get much warning, and sometimes the sores just appear. When I do get a warning, I get a soreness down the nerve on the back of my thigh, running from my groin to mid thigh or sometimes just a skin soreness on one side of the inner thigh. When I first caught herpes that could be a pain so bad it made me limp but now it is just like the sore skin you sometimes get with a cold. It is always just on one side which is how I know it is the herpes. I never get any other warning, no tingle or anything. I've never had a tingle.

As for your boyfriend, yes he could easily have had it with no symptoms. If you have just been diagnosed with a primary outbreak, i.e. you had a sever attack with the fever, swollen glands etc and no previous symptoms, the likelihood is you have just caught it and if you did you probably caught it within the week prior to the first symptom.

It is possible either of you had it previously without knowing. 90% of people who have it are unaware of their infection. If your boyfriend were to get a blood test now, and it came back positvie, it would probably mean he already had it before you since the antibodies take 3-6 months to show in the bloodwork. People who already have oral herpes/cold sores (hsv-1) are particularly likely to experience no symptoms when they catch hsv-2.
