The only thing that worked for me (at 27 years old, having bad skin for the last 13 years) was going to the dermatologist. She gave me antibiotics and Tazorac. Now I wash my face with a gentle cleanser (try Cetaphil), apply moisturizer (something simple at night or I love the Mattifying Moisturizer with Tea Tree from the Body Shop to banish the oilies), and then put on a light amount of Tazorac cream. It works when nothing else did and, having bad skin for this long, I really have tried everything. Within just a few days of using this stuff, my face was looking much better.

So if you can get to a dermatologist ASAP, you might want to go that route.

Otherwise, products containing Tea Tree derivatives do seem to work well and are calming to the skin. I have also found that chamomile tea can be used to calm the skin and really reduce redness. Lastly, if nothing else, cool washcloths can at least temporarily reduce some of the redness.

Good luck!

Pro-Activ works well... yep, that stuff you get off of infomercials... you can get it in most malls now at one of those kiosks (some even have vending machines for it). I've been using it for years and it works well.

Pro active is ****. dont touch your face or wherever you have it one....more oil and dirt from your hands is the last thing you need

If you have really oily skin, I recommend using Clearasil acne control. It's pads. I think it's really helpful and not expensive at all! You can get it in the drug stores and just look in the skin section.
Here's what it looks like:

All you do is wipe it on your face daily, and it doesn't take long. It's sort of like "on the go".

One advice: the pad can make your skin really dry so I recommend using it sparingly. Depending on how oily your skin is. If it is not that oily, not still in need of cleansing, you should wash your face with warm water and soap. Then use COLD water to finish up. Also, the best soap to use it probably those ones that come out "foamy" like. You can get some in bath and body works (don't be shy! This is your skin, for pete's sake!). I hope this helps!! It did wonders for me ^^
