I've never heard cancer, but my one teacher used to tell us the lining in the aluminum cans could cause Alzheimer's. Don't know any proof to that or not. The acidity can cause stomach ulcers too.
Diet soda contains many chemicals that some believe can cause cancer. However this has not been conclusively proven.
There was a study done years ago, using lab rats, and what they were testing was the saccharin in diet soda's. The silly thing about the study, is that you would have to drink 200 cans a day to get the same dosage they gave the rats in order to get cancer from it.
Pretty silly study if you ask me. No realistic results for humans that's for sure.
No clinical scientific evidence exists that drinking soda has ever given a human being cancer.
