Why is my heart skipping beats?!

Question: Yes I know, there is already a question similar to this on Yahoo! Answers. I just feel like I need to ask my own (plus give all those who answer some points! hehe)
I can be sitting down at my computer and usually that is where I get this. It kind of jumps, skips...
I do have a habit of taking in deep breaths and holding them in for long periods of time. I've also heard that there is a condition where this is done during sleep and I'm not sure i f I have that...but, is the taking deep breaths thing causes the jumps/skips?

The previous response, to the furthest of my knowledge, is wrong.
Here's the deal: hearts skip sometimes. It's normal, and usually not anything to worry about. Taking a deep breath is EXACTLY what you SHOULD do. However, holding them is not. When your heart is starved of oxygen and the lungs are full of CO2(like when you hold your breath) it can irritate your heart, thus causing it to skip. If you don't feel faint, sick to your stomach, and it doesn't skip all in row, or constantly I wouldn't worry too much about it.
However if it does to any of those, I would get it checked out. There is a fine line between benign flutters and serious problems, and sometimes the flutters can turn into a problem.
If your stressed out, even if your not thinking about it at that moment, it can cause those flutters as well. So can caffiene, your diet, and several other things.

This irregularity is called a sinus arrhythmia, and you are correct about the connection with breathing - the heart speeds up when breathing in and slows down when holding your breath or breathing out.
