Should I still take antibiotics even though my bladder infection went away?!
Question: I recently had a urinary tract infection (with blood present in urine) and went to the doctor to get antibiotics. After a couple of days, it went away. However, I still have a few days left to take the antibiotics. Should I take the remaining pills even though I no longer have the UTI?

YES!!!!!!!! You should always finish a course of antibiotics. Just because the symptoms are gone doesn't mean the infection is gone. Also, if you don't finish the course it can make them less effective next time you need to take them.

Take them for as long as your doctor told you to. It could just be that your symtoms are gone, but there is lingering infection. Don't second guess your doctor- if he said to take them until they're gone, you should.
Hi & yes u should, because it may feel like it went away but the dr said u should finsh all the med's. It may be there still even thou u feel better. Make sure u go to ur follow up.
ABSOLUTELY!!! Even though symptoms are gone some germs may linger and you want to get them all. Not finishing the med is exactly why we have MRSA and superbugs. They aren't totally wiped out, mutate and become resistant. It isn't really all that inconvenient to finish a course of antibiotics so you need to do that each and every time they are prescribed for you.
Always complete the entire prescription. Although the infection may appear to have cleared up, if you discontinue the prescription the infection will have the opportunity to "return."

Absolutely yes. Whenever you take antibiotics, always finish them. No matter if you better the next day. The bacteria is still there and it can become resistant to the antibiotic. If you happen to have this infection again, the meds wont work.
