Firstly...I hope every friend knows I am leaving YA I got a great new job but is tax season here and will be 24/7 almost work. I will miss you Lav...for your hands try a regular manicure and a good moisturizer ..to keep them soft. Manicures are usually only about ten dollars maybe a bit more where you live but it's worth it to keep nails healthy.. I hope to see evryone in May!!

Soak your hands and carefully trim the hard bits, but not too close!

Slather your hands with a thick moisturizing cream and slip cotton socks on your hands (great for feet, too) and sleep this way.

You may experience a return of hard skin if you go back to your old negligent ways. But if you take good care of your hands & feet, it shows!

Good luck!

Hello, as I am reading your question, I am wondering if this happens to you all the time when it is cold. Have you ever heard of Scleraderma? This is one condition where sores appear on your finger tips, starting as rough skin sometimes. I am suggesting that you see a dermatologist and check it out for your own peace of mind.

plenty of moistureser especially after washing up

The hard skin around your nails is just caused by dryness. Use a really good hand cream before bed, so that it can stay on and absorb all night long, Trim off any hangnails, but the hard skin will soften as it becomes more moisturized. You should also put on some hand cream after each time that you wash your hands or have your hands exposed to water. Try to wear rubber gloves for any household chores where you would be exposed to water, and always wear gloves when you go outside in the winter as well.
