Answers: My daughter has a very bad sore throat and fever with aches I have given her tylenol not helping.

It sounds like it is Strep Throat or Tonsillitis. She should be seen by a Doctor of PA tomorrow. Until then, this old time remedy really is helpful. Use warm salt water rinse. (Put warm water in a glass, pour in a lot of regular table salt, stir, stir and then gargle and spit. It taste salty of course but it helps take the pain away and also cheap. (not recommended for young kids) Sore throat sprays, Tylenol, Motrin, Ice cream, Popsicles, drink some warm tea with a piece of peppermint candy- disolve the peppermint and drink, suck on cough drops or hard candy.

theraflu

Cepacol may help.

mumps?

Hot tea with honey and lemon?

Keep her boyfriend away!!!

she has a tonsil infection and need antibiotics

antibiotic...sounds like strep, it's going around..take her to the doctor! Especially if she has a fever and body aches. Regardless of what you give her; will not help! She needs to be seen by a doctor given an antibiotic...

Try gargling warm salt water to reduce the pain. Suck on flavored frozen desserts (such as Popsicles). Here go to this website, it will tell you more info.

may have a bacterial or viral infection. check to see if her tonsils are swollen (glands on each side at the very back of throat). if they are and got white stuff on them or have red blotches, then she may have strep, which is very common. but in any case, get her to a doc asap so they can give her antibiotics or whatever other treatment she may need.

Theraflu is pretty good. Also, good old fashioned hot tea.
If the hot is too much for her, she can also suck on ice chips. Sometimes cold feels better than hot.
Sounds like she has the flu. Keep an eye on her and if her fever passes 102, or she has any trouble breathing, she needs to go to a doctor/hospital.

you know whats a good home made recipe.... grab a cup pour some honey and squeeze 3 limes warm it up so its nice and hot (not too hot) and have her drink it with a straw but while its still warm that will hel alot...just for the sore throat though

As long as you don't give her anything with aspirin in it, you will be fine. Give her something with ibuprofen in it to help bring down her fever, and cough drops to help with the sore throat. Sounds like she should see the doctor because she might have strep throat or mono.

Try motrin, if she can tolerate it, it is a better anti-inflamatory than tylenol. Warm compresses on her throat, warm or cold fluids[whichever works the best for her], salt water gargle might help.
A nice warm bath and being tucked into a warm bed might help the aches.
I've tried the sore throat sparys, I find they burn, and don't really get down to where it is really sore. A nice losenge, or even some hard candy might be better.
and if she is not better soon, take her to a doctor, if you haven't already.
ps: wait 4 hours for the tylenol to wear off, then do the motrin.

sore throat is probably caused by secretions from the nose dripping down her throat (post nasal drip) You need to find a product that will dry up her sinuses.

Do you have any apple cider vinegar? Have her gargle with 1/2 cup vinegar and 1/2 cup water. I know you're daughter is gonna go ewwww the smell....but it does work.
Have you heard of a neti pot.....this clears out the sinuses. Got to youtube and put in neti pot for a demonstration.

I asked a doctor on how he handles a cold and its symptoms, he said sleep is when it is fought.
Syrup, capsules, and drops relieve but not cure.

For sore throat, I used to drink a mix of lemon juice and honey...nasty but taste better than cough medicine, add lozenges during the day too

Before bedtime, I took double dosage of Nightquil.
In the morning, half dose of Nightquil...it may make your child drowsy so maybe no half dose for her.

I love dayquil and Nyquil. They are my friends when I am sick. If the fever is low grade, I would not give her anything for it, being that fever is the body's way of killing the virus. If it got higher than 101, I would give tylenol every 4 hrs and motrin every 4 until I saw it start coming back down. Like if you give her tylenol at 12, then give her motrin at 2, then tylenol at 4 again...ect... Take the temp every 30 minutes for the first couple of hours then once it starts to go down every hour. If you do not notice the temp climbing back down, I would get some help, go to the ER or doctor's office. As for the sore throat have her sip on warm liquids. It will sooth her throat if it is just a sore throat. If she is prone to strep or even is she is not prone but looks to have puss pockets in her throat, I would suggest heading to the doctor right away.

you want an anti inflammitory, that's the key. Make sure the pain medication you give her says that on it. Anti inflammitory and fever reducer. In addition, have her gargle warm salt water. Mix half a tablespoon of salt in a tall glass of warm water.
