Allergic reaction spreading...help?!

Question: yesterday i had some weird allergic reaction to i dont know what... and when i say weird.. its because i have never been allergic to anything my entire 18 years of life.

it spread from the bottom of my chin about 6 inches down to my collar bone.
i took an allergy med and it cleared up and i slept fine.

this morning i felt a bit itchy but there were no noticeable red bumps...
untill about 5 min ago.
its now on my chin spreading throughout my right jaw line to under my ear and my right cheek is extremely warmer than my left.

i am at work right now and i do not know what to do. ive never even been allergic to anything before so im asking answers...
is bad?
i dont have any pills in handy but i could go get some on my lunch break..
if i need to take some whats the best i can take.. that wont make me pass out at work?

any help is really appreciated

could be a lot of things but here's somethings to think about to help you deduce what u are allergic too.

-New foundation make-up or old foundatin makeup would be my first guess. Or maybe due to a hormone change in your body you now have developed an allegeric reation to your make-up foundation and/or powder. Old make-up (anything 4-6 mo's and older) has a LOT of bacteria in it.

-New soaps like a new fascial cleanser or bar of soap...anything with heavy perfume scents can be bad also for the skin

-Mildewy wash cloth...try to keep your wash clothes fresh like change them everyday or every other day...tones of baterica in those suckers that will cause a rash

-Laundry detergent...new laundry detergent or maybe the washing machine didn't get all the soap out...that will make you break out

-new meds...antibotics in particular its that time of year for colds...or birth control, diet pills, vitamins (any new vitamins you've been taking...i can only take Vitamin E once a week anything more makes me break out in a rash like you're describing...itches like hell...like i have dry skin then it gets bumpy)

-and lastly...stress...are you stressed about anything...long periods of stress can make you start breaking out in hives.

Benadryl

take benedryl. It may make you sleepy, but it will help. Then make an appt to see the doc.

Benadryl cream if it returns go to urgent care, ER, or your doc and get a shot
Dont take pills they will make you tired, and also they work slower because the cream is absorbed through the skin

Anti-histamines are what you want. Benadryl is the only OTC one that I can think of.

Be careful! Any allergic reaction in your head and neck should be monitored very carefully, as your airway is in that vicinity.

benadryl, but in some people it can make them sleepy so if you can find non drowsy that would be good. If you start having trouble breathing or feel your throat start tightening go to the hospital right away.

It might be due to what your wearing. I don't really have any allergies but when I wear my work clothes(button down collered shirt) and I leave the coller to tight it rubs the skin and ocasionally cause a red area and some bumps. I'd suggest you loosen the collar a little and mabey be careful about have the collar starched(if you get the shirts dry cleaned).

Hope this helps.

Benadryl or chlotrimiton (not sure I spelled that right) is what
I use. I sometimes get hives. If that is what you are getting
don't scratch it that just makes it worse. You might want to
go see a doctor because some people have really bad
reactions to allergies. Good luck, hope you feel better.

Benadryl and make sure you did not get bitten by a spider. I got bitten once on the cheek without knowing it and the reaction is exactly the same as yours. Make an appointment with the doctor. Keep taking the benadryl until you can get an appointment. The reason it keeps coming back is because what ever has been injected in your skin is still there. The Benadryl only blocks it temprarily. Good luck.

The cold water will help you feel less miserable anyway.

Find out what has changed. You may even need to see a doctor, and try to get a hold of some Benedryl. An allergist should be able to help you find out what you're suddenly allergic to.

Now- I just had a thought. Is anyone where you are burning firewood? If so, there's a chance that poison ivy got mixed in with it. And the oil that causes the reaction is one of those things that doesn't break down easily.

Good luck!

Allergies are the immune system's reaction to a substance that you took before, but not always.
I had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic that I had never taken before. Now I'm allergic to two antibiotics-Levaquin and Bacti-sulfa.
If you think you are having an allergic reaction, take an antihistamine like Benadryl. That's what I've been given the last two times I had a reaction. I was also given a steroid. An antihistamine will help hives, too.
If you have problems swallowing or if your tongue swells, call 911 because this is a severe reaction that has to be treated immediately (within 1 hour).

Having sensitive skin myself, one thing that does help calm an irritant down until you can get medical help is to put cold milkon the irritated area. When I was a facial consultant and a client had an adverse reaction to some of the cosmetics we used, we would use milk to equalize the area. If the milk calmed it down and it stayed down, it was usually something topical. If it either didn't cool it down or it came back, it was subcuteanous and needed medical attention.

Also, some have said Benedryl. I would try the benedryl cream or lotion before taking the tablets because the tablets can cause drowsiness and interfere with your everyday activities. The cream or lotion will counteract anything that is environmental or topical without effecting your ability to reason.

Good luck!
