HOw are people doing living with 4 stents in the left descending artery? I am 57!

Question: I have 7 stents, 2 of which are in my heart. My doctor told me that if I didn't quit smoking, it was senseless for him to put stents in my body. Smoking is really bad for your arteries and heart. Today, I walk 4 miles a day, watch my diet and I feel better than I have for a long time. As for refusing to have stents and electing to have bypass surgery.......Surgery is a major stress on your body and there are so many things to go wrong. Even with bypass surgery you can have a recurrence of your disease if you don't change your lifestyle. Having stents put in is a procedure, not surgery, and recovery time is only 10 days. (and that's just because you have to be careful of the tiny incision in your artery) By the way, I'm 58.

My father got 3 stints put i about 6 years ago. Hes 58 now. Is doing great. If you smoke, its best to quit. My father's doctors advised more than anything to not smoke. Drinking beer is still okay, though. He's also been trying to walk around more during the day. Seems to help, he is more energetic.

I refused stints after a major heart attack. I found out they don't last to much beyond five or six years without problems. I'm not sure, best to research it further.
I had the six bypasses instead.

i know three people with stents,
they have changed there lifestyle ie eating more fish and less red meat, not eating things like pastie's pie's and less pastry goods. fresh vegetables and fruit,my poor husbandhad a heart attach severn years ago, and because the one blockage he has there is nothing the consultants can do he has three blockages two may have gone with the medication he takes, the big one is placed behind his heart and in a position that they can not do a bypass or put a stent in as it is to complicated to do,so he has to live with it, he gets days when he feels unwell and others he is very good an dhe is still working.
so i do hope you are doing well and continue to do so .
