How do you keep eczema at bay w/o using steroids?!

Question: Moisture, moisture, moisture. Warm, not hot water, and soap only on smelly parts. While still wet slatther yourself with Gold Bond lotion - it contains urea, which is very helpful. If you shower right before bed - and I am serious about this - spray yourself with a cooking spreay made from canola oil. The oil locks in the moisture. Wear some sweats to bed. I cured my eczema doing this.

Powder sulfur in hair and bedding

I have eczema and i use Vaseline brand lotion for severely dry skin...nothing works better than steroid from personal experience, but it will help...

also...try to avoid using a lot of soap, and just "bathe" yourself in lotion.

there are alot of natural solutions out there for sufferers, i found calendula soap works well, it calms the skin and because the good stuff is made from pure veletable oil and calendula essence it won't dry out your skin while cleaning it. try visiting your local naturopath or having a look online

Hi Gina

Here are a few testimonials that healed the issue.

8/24/2007: J-M from San Jose, California, USA writes: "I've been using white distilled vinegar for my folliculitis to see if it might work. For about two weeks I've been immersing my legs in it for an hour each day. It appears to be helping, but until about 4 days ago, I've ran out of white distilled vinegar and so started to add apple cider vinegar. to get the vinegar all over my legs, I've been using my hands to splash it over the back of my legs and other areas where the vinegar does not go up to. (I've used a small bucket and just put my leg in it) I've noticed that my eczema on my hands are closing up. For a couple of years now, I've had eczema that would always be cracking and bleeding. At night when asleep I would scratch at my fingers and back of my hand. And even when I didn't scratch, the cracks wouldn't heal and thus I had hands that looked dry, cracked, and sorta bleeding. However the ACV has closed all the eczema spots and it looks to be healing nicely. It's only been 5 days, but I'm patient and I noticed that I don't scratch at night anymore. If you have ACV available, I suggest people with eczema try it for a week and see if their eczema closes up and is less itchy."

9/18/2007: Liz from Nairobi, Kenya writes: "My 8 month old son has had eczema since he was four months old. I have tried many prescription creams that did not seem to work or worked for only a few days. A friend asked me to try coconut oil. Its worked miracles. I got results in a day. There was no itching and the dry patches were gone. I now make sure to keep a bottle in the house all the time. I have also noticed that water and soap worsen eczema, so when he has it, I avoid them on the patches and use the oil instead."

Best of health to you

Ok here goes ..
I have had eczema my whole life and I see that there are a lot of people arounbd the world that have it! The first thing I have learned is no doctor not even a dermatologist can help u! They just put u on steriods or u have to uswe steriod creams! I have come up with my own remidies from all the research I have done etc.! I am 21 years old with the same prob.
U need to get a soft water treatment installed in ur home and if u can't afford that then u need to go to home depot and buy a water purifier for ur shower head and Change it every 6 months to reduce the clorine in the water. Also DON'T sun bathe it makes it 10 times worse! Also need to change ur bed sheets 1 time a week . Also need to change all of ur detergent to hypoallergentic buy ALL FREE AND CLEAR NO BOUNCE!!!! Also go out and buy cetaphil it comes in a lotion a cream and a shower gel DO NOT USE ANYTHING THAT IS SCENTED!!!! No scented perfumes shower gels lotions etc.! Also soak in the tub at least 1 time a day in DEAD SEA SALT NON-SCENTED!!! U can take at least 1000 milagrams of fish oil a day and eat 1 pepper a day so ur body doesn't cont. to produce cells and ur overactive imune system shuts down .. DO NOT EAT CHICKEN!!!
Don't take too muvh fish oil or it will make ur whoo whoo smell like fish! If u do this everyday it will maintain it and go away trust me on this .. Last but not least put lotion on right after u get out of the shower DON'T UWE GOLDBOND!

i have eczema also. the easiest, cheapest cure is baby oil after a bath. sorry but i cannot take a warm bath and i work in healthcare, so i must make sure i wash with soap and water. i use soap with extra moisturizer in it and use baby oil right after a bath. sometimes i have to reapply during the evening, but that helps soooo much. the canola oil will work too, but baby oil is so much cheaper. good luck
