HPV question....?!

Question: My ex called me a few weeks ago and said she has HPV, so after she told me I went and got an STD test, it came back clean so what I was wondering was can women get the HPV virus easier then men and is it not contagious? If she has it now more then likely she had it when we were together. Did I get lucky and just not get it or is it harder for men to get it in general?

I'm surprised your doctor didn't inform you that they cannot test men for HPV. The only testing that has been done is for purely scienific study and it's been stated there is no reliable test for men.
Now, there are over 100 strains of HPV.
30 of them are known to cause gential warts and 6 of them are known to cause cervical cancer. HPV does more damage in the female body then men; men are thought to be the carriers of HPV and the only time they would show any outward symptoms is if they had the strains that had gential warts.
Also, HPV can lay dormant for months to years, even can lay dormant from testing. A woman could have a comitted relationship and show fine on her paps until whenever down the road and suddenly it's abnormal. This does not indicate that her partner gave it to her or her partner was unfaithful. It is extremely hard to track in a case of trying to find out who could have contracted it from whom.

Included is a link that you can find more information.

Good Luck!

Currently, there is no test designed to find HPV in men. But HPV is very common and most men with HPV will never develop health problems from it.

I suggest you read up on it.
There are many sites.
Google it

I also have HPV. My husband has never had a problem. I wound up with cervical cancer and had to have a hysterectomy which thankfully took care of it with no further treatments as of now. here is a site that might help you......
