Not necessary, but I strongly insist that you visit a surgeon to detect it.
I had them before and it was just swollen and hurt. It could also be cyst. With the way things are today you can never rule out the chance that it may be cancer or a tumor. I tought I had a cancerous cell behind my ear(cancer runs in my family and all the women get) because at first it was small and then it grew really big and I was in soooo much pain but it turned out to be a cyst. Just go to a doctor and they will determine what it is. But don't worry yourself about cancer. If you don't want to go to the doctor then just watch it to see if it grows and if it gets to where it causes you problems I would suggest going to the doctors. I waited and I had to be on medicine that made me tired and gave me headaches all day. But like I said just keep an eye on it. ( i had a swollen lymph node in my jaw)
