Strep throat...help?!
Question: I had to go the ER because my glands were swollen under my jaw and my tongue, face, and throat went numb. For about a week i ignored the sore throat. I thought it came from me just messing with my salivary glands (I never knew what they were and I was massaging the section out of nervous habit a couple of weeks ago.) Anyway I went to the ER and told him, and he asked me the questions about the sneezing and runny nose, and I told him that it happened hardly, but my ears would hurt. He put me on an antibiotic called amoxycillan, which is used for strep throats. but the thing is, he never swabbed my throat in order to detect it. He just took a wooden stick and looked and the back of my mouth and saw my swollen glands. I just now thought about this tonight, and this is the first day I've started to take the medicine. Is it possible that they can tell without swabbing, even tho u told them u only experience just a little bit of a runny nose and sneezing?

well im not sure if they can really tell for sure with just the stick. however, i know that when u do have strep throat there are these puss pockets or little white things on your glands or tonsils. but im no expert. i know how bad it sucks to have strep or throat problems so i hope you get better!
