Viral Meningitis?!

Question: Ive been extremely sick for the past couple of days, so I called my doctor and explained to him what has been going on. He said it was most definently Viral Meningitis. So I'm kinda freaked out. Can someone explain to me how you get it, and also what will they have to stick into me when im at the hospital?

Have you been exposed to it? Have you had a spinal tap? I have never heard of anyone stating this is definite without a spinal tap. If you are admitted to the hospital you will have a spinal tap ( don't freak...they aren't that bad..I have had them), then will start an I.V. to get IV antibiotics into your body quickly. You will have blood work done several times throughout your hospital stay.

I had viral meningitis it was very bad, I collapsed in the night at home when I thought I was going to the bathroom,as I lay on the floor I realised I could not see anything. I was very afraid I was a single mum with children in bed. My son got up and came to me. I told him everything was fine he must call an ambulance. I was working in a hospital at the time this incident took place. I was given an immediate Lumber puncture and other things I dont remember. I was going through a terrible time with an ex-husband who was violent to me and I was sick quite alot, but I was in hospital for 6 weeks I could barely move of my bed my temperature was raging,I could not eat and I was worried all the time my husband would take my children who were never brought once to visit me. I overheard a doctor outside my room telling the nurse in charge it was certain I picked up the virus at work, but as I was so ill and had so many other things going on I never did anything about it. I was also younger then. When I got out of hospital I still could not sit up I was on strong anti-biotics. I remember an Insurance man coming to the door and telling him to come in and help himself to my purse as I physically could not get up. He asked me if he could call someone I said I had just come out of hospital. I was told not to work for 3 months at least. 2 weeks later the hospital were on the phone asking me when I was coming to work. I told them I could not possibly come back I was much to ill. Eventually I did go back but still did not feel well and infact only 2 years later did I feel anything like myself. I have now been happily divorced for 20 years apart from the odd cold I have been in very good health and I put it down to not having a man hassling me anymore. I would highly recommend it to anywomen.
