Yes, he will probably have some swelling after surgery. He should worry if the following happens: the area gets very tight and very red, and painful, and he has a fever. Then he might have an infection. Just mild swelling after surgery is totally normal. If he recently had surgery, he should have a follow up visit scheduled with his Dr. who can take a look at it at that time. But unless he has any of the above symptoms...no worries!

swelling is vewry probable after surgery.

well u should tell him to go check with the doctors if he didn't get infected.

swelling is definitely normal after any surgery

It is totally normal and fine if he swells a bit after surgery. Don't worry.

You should worry if any of the ofllowing happen:
-the area gets very tight, red, and painful
-he has a fever
These things suggest that he maight have an infection.

If the surgery was recent, he should have a visit scheduled with his doctor anyways. You father can express any concerns to his doctor here.

He should be just fine though!

My father had hernia surgery AND my mom is a RN.
