If they are accepting donations from smokers they are screened just like normal people. Smokers don't have cancer cells, just a higher risk of getting cancer. If your theory was correct then someone with cancer could get cut,and if you had a cut, he could give it to you. I'm sure the red cross does all the marker screenings they can.

And this is bad for what reasons. Blood that is donated is put through many tests. This includes testing for AIDS, STDS, and abnormalities. Cancer would show up as an abnormality because you would have a radically higher white blood count then a non-cancerous person. Smoking does not affect blood. Either does drinking, as long as you give blood sober. If you give blood when drunk, the receiver would be drunk.

If you are so concerned about the blood at the American Red Cross and you are going to have scheduled surgery you can donate your own blood for your operation. Otherwise, I think you are overreacting.
