Recormon? (epoetin beta) is a Prescription Medicine used to treat anaemia in people with kidney disease. Recormon is a solution for injection, available in pre-filled syringes containing 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000 and 10,000 international units of epoetin beta.` Recormon should not be used if you have poorly controlled high blood pressure. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have had problems with another erythropoietin-type medicine, if you have a shunt in place or if you have any other health problems, especially the following: anaemia where previous treatments have not been successful, epilepsy, increased level of platelets in the blood, liver disease, a deficiency in folic acid or vitamin B12, excess levels of aluminium in the blood as a result of kidney disease treatment, or severe phenylketonuria as Recormon contains phenylalanine. Recormon side effects include: Common: headache, increase in blood pressure, worsening of existing high blood pressure. Rare: Changes in iron levels (pale, tiredness, lack of energy), flu-like symptoms (fever, chills, headaches, tiredness, pain in arms and legs) which can happen at the start of treatment, skin rashes or injection site problems. Tell your doctor immediately if you notice any of the following: headache, particularly sudden stabbing migraine-like headaches, confusion, slurred speech or unsteady gait, severe chest pain, very painful and swollen calf muscles, seizures, sudden and severe signs of allergy. These may be serious side effects and you may need urgent medical attention. Ask your doctor if Recormon is right for you. Use strictly as directed.
