Is it true that an anxiety attack can resemble a heart attack?!

Question: That's what it feels sort of like, sometimes. & also 1 lady said she thought she was having anxiety attack, & it turned out to be acute heart attacks.

I feel like I'm about to have an anxiety attack right now. I can't breathe, & it feels like I'm going to die. Help me, please! I'm about to cry. I'm afraid that one day I WILL have a heart attack or another stroke & die. I had 2 strokes when I was 5, & they said I could be likely to have another one if I keep getting stressed out. I'm 24 & overweight because of my antidepressants.

A heart attack at 24 is very uncommon, very unlikely. To the sufferers, anxiety attacks feel like a heart attack, both causing a lot of anxiety, panic and fear. Who is treating you for your depression? He or she should be able to help you cope with future anxiety attacks. At present just calm down, don't take too deep breaths since that would cause you to hyperventilate and cause more symptoms and panic, you could try breathing in a paper bag.

Anxiety attacks or panic attacks can have similar physical feelings as a heart attack: tightening/discomfort in the chest, tingling of the hands, flushed/warm face. Considering your medical past and condition, I think that if you are feeling these symptoms, you should definately seek medical attention ASAP. Good luck.

You should go get checked at the ER....

Even though an anxiety attack can definitely feel like a heart attack, you can't tell the difference..... you need a med professional

yes....

your probably best going to see your doctor about getting some councilling. It sounds like you've had a really rough time from a very young age. maybe the panic attacks are through something in your past triggering it off thats why you get to the point where you can't breathe. try breathing into a paper bag it always works for me

They really do suck I know... I hate them.

i've ben told that too.....i'm inclined to belive it though, some of thoes are terriable.......

Most 24yr olds, even grossly overweight ones, don't get heart attacks(if that helps at ALL)...so......

Funny thing is, last night i, well.........yea, i've got this prob too....

sounds crazy, but count backwards from 100....seriously, it helps u get to the point when u can breath some...maybe u can go lay down if u can get up....ah im no good w/this kinda stuff as i dont deal well...turn on a CD or go2 youtube and find some nice music to help

Honey, just try to calm down. I know it is hard. Think about something you like and keep self-talking to yourself. Keep telling yourself, "I am just anxious; I am fine." This does help. Get into a comfortable position and listen to music you like and / or look at a picture that reminds you of good things.

Good luck sweetie.

anxiety attack can have many of the same symptoms as a heart attack or other conditions.
