What could be wrong? gall bladder?!

Question: Does anyone else ever get these horrible pains on your right side about a palms length below your breast? It starts out just dull and annoying like a cramp and gets worse with time. It goes all the way though to your back and is somehwhat crippling. It is brought on by eating and it happens every once in awhile (every couple months) and lasts for HOURS.

It isn't even fatty foods...a lot of times it is associated with eating salads. I've taken Rolaids, Acid Reducers and nothing seems to take care of it. The only relief comings from vomiting (gross, I know).

I've determined that it has to be my gall bladder given the location but had that looked and was told everything was fine...

How it has been looked after? An echography of the upper abdomen? But if it is gallstones, you must have colicky pains, which means you can't help moving around because of the pain, often one is retching too. A spastic colon is also possible, do you have some constipation? Due to the so called gastrocolic reflex the large intestine (colon) will contract after meals (in babies causing a dirty nappy), part of it is located where you feel your pain, and the pain goes to your back. If this is the case, take a lot of fiber in your diet (2-5 tablespoonful of linseed taken with yoghurt, fruit juices etc. will do, better than bran!). You can always try, if it work than you 'll know, it doesn't work for gallstones.

Sounds like gall bladder to me!! Call your gastrointestinal specialist.... get yourself a CT scan and pop that sucker out!!

I had gall stones (so many, it looked like gravel!) and thats exactly what i felt like. It was fatty and salty foods mostly though... and wicked nasty nausea.
