Reflux can cause nausea and vomiting.
It sounds like you have it. You don't always get the 'spew' burps.
They can test for reflux 2 ways.

A barium meal. A special drink and usually some food with barium in it is taken while x-rays are also taken.

24Ph study. A small wire is passed down the nostral into the oespghagus and kept in place for 24 hours while you carry on as normal. It measures any acid reflux and the strength over the time the test is in place.
You are not sedated for this. It's not uncomfortable and they will use a local anaesthetic spray initially.

I have had both of these done and my 12 year old is having the 24Ph next week. This is the most accurate test.

You probably do have acid reflux. I have it too. Not really bad though. Most of the time for me, some vomit will actually come up into my mouth --sorry if tmi..lol--

They didnt really do a test on me. They looked into my throat to see if I had scaring or anything from the acid, which i did. I'm sure for the bad cases they do more.

Good luck!

i discovered last week that I have a hiatus hernia...just one of a lot of things going on with me atm!
they found it via a gastroscopy, and that causes bad acid reflux...its horrible for me as sometimes it gets so bad i vomit pure acid...its awful
go to your doctor hun cos i know the agony you'll be going through.
he can do some tests, and pop you onto a PPI (Proton Pump Inhibitor) such as Lansoprazole (thats what im on).
these reduce the amount of acid you reflux.
they really help

good luck sweetie

Go to the drugstore and buy some Prilosec - take it for a few days and if you feel much better then you should talk with your doctor as it probably is acid reflux. If this medication does nothing or little to alleviate your pain then you still need the doctor to find out why.
