Is there a pill out there that can cure your acne?!
Question: My husband said when he was a tennager, he had really bad acne like me and his doctor gave him these really huge pills to take and his acne went away within a few months. Has anyone else taken this pill or know how much it cost?

Yes, depending on how severe the acne is. I took Accutane. Within 2 months it was gone. I did not finish the entire 6 to 8 month treatment as we wanted to have a baby. I quit taking it because of the risks of birth defects should I had become pregnant, but it worked wonderfully!!
As far as cost, my insurance covered it. See your dermatologist, as your blood work has to be monitored while taking this medication.
CAUTION: this medication is a last resort...it causes severe malformations in an unborn fetus if you become pregnant while taking it. Mostly to the central nervous system of the baby, should you even carry to term.
BTW, topical medications did not work for me. Tetracycline did nothing. Again, Accutane is for severe cases as a last resort when nothing else works. I have not heard or read anything with regard to suicide or lingering effects. I became pregnant 8 months after stopping Accutane, I have a very healthy 7 year old little boy. Ohhh, and back then the Accutane pills were huge, bigger than a pre-natal vitamin.
im not sure about that pill but i know that birth control works wonders!
there are some acne creams that apply directly to your skin that work...

Accutane? The pills aren't really huge, though.
The pill he was probably put on was an anti-biotic. The antibiotic kills the bacteria that causes acne. It only works for so long though and then you have to switch antibiotics. Just one for another type. Ask your doctor.
My ex girlfriend has these pills that got rid of her acne and also was her birth control, it was a 2fer, was called Dianette.
It was probably tetracycline. I took it too. There are now a couple of things on the market...doxycicline (sp) and solodyne(sp) are two of them. The best thing to do would go to your doctor or a dermatologist and get a prescription. They can also talk to you about what is causing your acne and come up with the best treatment for you.

accutaine or roaccutaine as it's called in Australia works wonders for acne... word of warning, 2 bad side effects especially if you take more than the recommended dose are acne scarring and severe depression, suicide has been linked to the use of this drug.
Yeah I used to take acne pills 2x a day for about 4-6 months
They didnt work for me though, now i use differin and that works great! I have no more zits!
If you want them go see a dermatologist!!!
The birth control pill is a very common way of battelign acne it helps you improve your skin and stops you getting pregnant :D
