Can you get STDs even when a condom was used?!

Question: Just curious...

Answers: Just curious...

It has been reported that condoms leak, break or slip off 3-15% of the time even when used 100% of the time.

Even if you use a condom 100% of the time, it does not eliminate the risk of contracting an STD.

Condoms do not prevent the transmission of STDs from lesions on areas not covered by condoms such as Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) / Gential Warts or Genital Herpes (HSV2).

Adolescents are more susceptible to contracting STDs (even with condom use) than adults.

Abstinence is the only sure why not to contract an STD, however, if you are going to have sex a condom and spermicide is your best bet against contracting an STD.

close to 0% of chance..

The chances are small, very small, unless the condom tears in the process.. or your partner has STD and he has a cut in his mouth or lips and you too have a small wound (unlikely to happen, just listing the possibilities).. then yes u can get STD..

Yes, you can get an std/sti even if a condom was used. I know many people will tell you that you can get everything because condoms are effective. That isn't true, they are effective; yet, they are only there to lower your chances of std/sti and to prevent pregnancy.

If a condom was used properly (as in no tearing/breaking occured), you can still get diseases like:
Herpes
HPV
Crabs

These std/sti's need to have skin-to-skin contact, rather than an exchange in bodily fluids.

Good Luck!

Yes, you can still get some STDs. Some only need skin contact, some can be contracted through oral sex, and some require body fluid exchange.

While the incidence is small, condoms do break, leak, and slip. Then there's always the improperly used condom.

Yes you can. Some STD's are spread by skin to skin contact.

Death and Taxes Death and Taxes

Yes. Condoms can have microscopic irregularities, and that is all that is necessary for a virus or other organism to get through. Remember, HIV and other organisms are microscopic themselves: they aren't as big as cockroaches!
