What does it mean to be HBsAg non-reactive?!

Question: I had a screening to determine whether I need hepa b vaccine or whether I have immunity against hepa b.

Answers: I had a screening to determine whether I need hepa b vaccine or whether I have immunity against hepa b.

A non reactive HBsAg (hepatitis B surface antiGEN) tells you nothing about your immunity to hepatitis B, only that you don't currently have the infection.

If you are trying to work out if you need hep B vaccination you should check the levels of anti-HBs (hepatitis B surface antiBODY).

Please see the web page for more details on HBsAg.

there's a table telling you what the results of the Hep B mean, but generally "non-reactive" means your body (blood in this case) doesn't react to the presence of HBsAg, which means you are negative for Hep B
