My son has a cough?!

Question: My son has a cough, its like a nervous tick or something. He does it constantly. He has a really stupid doctor who just told me that its an athsma syptom without checking him out. I don't think its athsma, because he doesn't do it in his sleep, when he's playing, or when he's being really active. Anyone ever heard of something like this?

Children with ADHD and people who have Tourettes sometimes have nervous ticks like coughing.

you probably are right. It may be a nervous tick.
we all have em, an they are all different.
just by chance it is not a nervous tick I would set up an appointment with a Respiratory Specialist.

If the coughing has been going on for quite some time now, I would strongly suggest you to take him to see another doctor.
Not to frighten you or anything but I think you should take some serious action. He's your kid after all :)

Ask a friend or relative If they know of a good doctor.

As a matter of fact, I just found out I have asthma, and my main symptom is coughing, not wheezing as you would expect. It comes and goes, sometimes with no discernable reason, but I know I am allergic to dust and if I go anywhere not really clean I'll cough my head off. And I don't cough when I'm asleep either.

sometimes people get coughs. I had a cough a month ago, same thing as your son apparently has. It's not a big deal.
