Zinc deficiency buddy ...... eat more foods rich in Zinc ie: meat, liver, seafood (especially oysters), wheat germ, brewer's yeast, pumpkin seeds, eggs, nonfat dry milk and ground mustard.
Foods rich in zinc will restore loss of taste, accelerate healing time for internal and external wounds, get rid of white spots on the fingernails and help reduce length and severity of colds.
Phytates, compounds found in grains and legumes, bind with zinc so that it cannot be absorbed......... perhaps that is where your deficiency is stemming from?? Large amounts of fibre will decrease your zinc levels. Other things which could be robbing you of your zinc supplies are ulcer medications, meprednisone, corticosteroids, diuretics and antacids........ excessive sweating can cause losses of zinc of up to 3mg per day too :0)
Please ensure that you increase your intake of vitamin A rich foods also if you decide to eat more foods rich in Zinc as vitamin A relies on Zinc to be released from its storage deposits.

Are you on any medication? That can do it. Or if you have a sore tooth or an abscess or a wisdom tooth coming, that can do it too.

Do you have any white spots inside your mouth, or is the inside of your cheeks really rough feeling (like someone has grated them). You might have oral thrush. I recently had a dose of this after using my asthma prevantative incorrectly (I wasnt rinsing my mouth properly). I had a weird taste in my mouth, my lips felt sort of numb and I felt like the inside of my mouth was all rough, inside my lips and cheeks. I didnt have the white spots as I caught it early. You can get oral gels from the chemist which can treat oral thrush.
