I can tell you from a parents stand point of you. That it requires alot of time for someone with the dreadful life altering disease. For someone that has this disease requires alot of positive feedback from someone who is trying to help that person of a loved one with the disease. I would not trade for nothing in the world to be there for my oldest son who was recently diagnosed with this dreadful disease. Keep in mind he has take 4 insulin shots a day. But the only concern is that I am worried about his eating habits. Because when you become a diabetic you have to change your eating habits, and you have to get rid of the artificial sugars that you ingest, because they are unhealthy for that person with the disease. I hope this helps you with your research paper at school.

i had gestational diabieties {pregger} and it sucked was moody form the sugar levels changing so much, though my best story is about my dad. Hes a type 2 diabetic, hes been off work now for the last 7mnths because of a HOLE in his foot, diabetics have trouble healing in thier legs and feet, it started just alitle raw spot on the sole of his foot and within a week it was bigger then a silver dollar and almost down to the bone, now in 7 months and pieces of pig skin stuck into the hole its now the size of a dime. another month or more he will be ready to return to work. it has been hard on him to sit around and let this foot propblem heal up hes gained alot of wieght and has a hard time moving about the little that he dose to go to the restroom and such, diabeties sucks!

give me exact questions if you want exact answers.

even though I consider myself a rough and tough dude, it has gotten to me, emotionally as well as physically.

what is it you actually want to know?

i was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when i was three, i'm now 17. it gets in the way of some things like if i wanted to be in the police force or fire brigade i can't because of my condition, also i've been in hospital 6 times in a coma and once i died and my father had to recussitate me, i feel ill alot more and when i do get sick it lasts a lot longer which is really annoying, i hate the injections and blood testing, and have to go to the hospital every three months for weight, height, eyesight, blood and general health check-ups and it feels like im a human guinea pig sometimes. i wish i could just be normal for a day so i knew what it was like to not have the constant worry in the back of my mind. i have been clinically depressed from it, it affects my sleep and eating habits and my mind is constantly worried with fear like what would happen if i went blind or contracted a blood disorder just crazy things which aren't crazy because they could really happen!! diabetes does have an effect on people's lifes because we're not normal anymore and i can't remember my life before diabetes but i expect i'd be a very different person if i hadn't had it hope this helped =)

You feel different its especially hard when your little and you wanna eat what everyone else is eating but you cant. Diabetes type 1!

When I Was told that i have diabetes, I was showing 464 and for 489. The doctor sent me to the hospital. there is no feeling like that, going to the hospital and being to that you are close to going in to a coma. I was scared, shocked and and then there was the pain and headaches, rapid heart beat and so much more. After The levels are brought down then you find out that you may have even more problems down the road if it is not taken under control, like loss of toes a foot and life.after you take a deep breath and then start down the right path of diet exercise you get a hold of it and fight. Life can be hard at times but you learn to enjoy it more, But to me the worst part was going through the meds until your doctor finds the one that works, you feel like nothing is going to help.
Will Power - If you didn't have it before you had diabetes will after!!!
Type 2

A year later I use my diabetic condition as a wake up call. I live healthier that I have for the last 10 years. I eat healthier and the discipline was easy to pickup.

I had HbA1C of 12.1 over a year ago, then 6.1 and 5.5, 5.4. 5.5 and 5.8 a week ago. I have learned to count carbs and not worry about sugar.

I don't seem to crave sweets like I once did. I will grab a small candy once in a great while, but that's it. I take stairs rather than the elevator.

I take the bus and train to work each day, walking 3.5 miles a day. I enjoy it. I don't eat late at night any more.

I am on a food supplements that really works. I sleep better, have more energy, and enjoy high spirits.

It's a life style change I can live with, but, I am lucky that I have renewed my health today. This is not always true, but, I will accept my blessing.
