If a diastolic pressure is higher than the systolic pressure, what does it mean?!

Question: To be honest, I am not really sure if it is possible that the diastolic pressure could be higher than the systolic, but I was curious.

It's impossible to have a higher diastolic pressure than systolic, as diastolic is resting pressure on the arteries when the heart is in its relaxed state; while systole is the pressure exerted in the arteries when the heart is in its fully contracted state, therefore that makes it impossible.

Think of a hand pump, and you are pumping water into a bucket from a well, when you squeeze the pump, the increased pressure in the pump forces the water upwards into the bucket as the valve below it is closed. It would be impossible to squeeze the pump and water enter it rather than exit it.

It is ususally not possible to have diastolic pressure to be higher than systolic.Something wrong with equipment or the brainless person who is listening for the BP.

What is your blood pressure reading, i don't know why you left that out ? but this is not impossible, you may have a problem with your meter, perhaps the equipment is not functioning right in which case needs replacement. The proper reading should be close to 120/80 normal Systolic/ Diastolic. Your reading is ( stage 2 ) Severe High Blood Pressure maybe. What you need to do is see your health care provider for an accurate reading of your blood pressure and good luck.

It means it was taken wrong.

Not possible. There is a low value on relaxation of the heart, and a high value on contraction. Its that simple.

Some folks just get the names wrong.
