Does anyone here suffer from tinnitus and have you found any medication?!

Question: that helps in the slightest.

Mine is been very bad just now hence the reason for me sitting here in front of computer at 6.00am as I cannot sleep because of the incessant hissing noise in my ears. I have had this condition for years but for some reason it is very bad just now...could be the cold weather that is effecting it.

Have you any suggestiosn...I know all about the masking by using tapes and music to dapen the noise but is there not a tablet that could also dampen down the noise?

Any suggestions would be appreciated please.

I had tinnitus on my left ear five years ago. ENT Surgeon drilled hole through ear drum twice to reduce said fluid. No effect. Dr bluntly told me to live with it, meaning there is no cure to nerve damaged that is causing the hissing. Already gave up medication two years ago and now living with it. Report It

  • I get it on and off but usually accompanied by a mild cold so decongestants helped mine. You should go to the doctor and find out what's causing you tinnitus, there are many different causes and if they can find out what's causing it they can find a treatment easier. Sorry cant be of more help.

I also suffer from tinnitus. I have heard there is indeed a medication that helps with this problem. I do not however know whether it is prescription or herbal in nature or its name... I am still looking for it myself.

p.s. I do not remember where I heard about it...

    alot of alcohol will help

I have tinnitus and as far as I am aware there is no medication that works. Mine is worse at the moment. I have no idea why either.

If it is disrupting your life you should seek medical advice. Maybe science has discovered something more effective than masking the noise.

Nettie, tinnitus is a miserable thing and I know, because I have it. I was in a band in my teens and too many concerts, played too loud have resulted in me having tinnitus.
There are many different sounds a person with tinnitus can hear, mine is like an alarm bell ringing, it's dreadful.
I have a diploma with distinction in Herbal Medicine and I have found that taking Feverfew (Tanacetum parthenium) really helps. It takes a while to build up an effect, but it does work.
Also drinking NO caffeine also goes a very long way to reducing the effects of tinnitus. These days Decaff coffee and decaff tea taste just as good as the regular stuff. Again it takes a little while, but it really does reduce the symptoms and I know, because I have done it.

hello, i do have an uncle who suffers with tinnitus. i have just become an Hopi ear practitioner. i had to do three case studies and i asked my uncle would he be on of my cases as Hopi ear can ease tinnitus,( Hopi ear isn't a cure ) i did three treatments on my uncle and he was amazed to the after effects of the treatment, after the first treatment he said he had a good nights sleep and after each treatment he said it really did help .the treatment involves a Hopi ear candle being inserted to the ear ( it isn't a literal candle) then the practitioner lights the candle when the candle reaches a certain level the candle is removed (both ears need to be done) then the face is drained by mas sarge to release to toxins the whole experience is very relaxing and worth a try look out a Hopi ear practitioner near you it should cost approx
