A question about diabetes testing?!

Question: If they cannot find any sugar in your urine, can they still find that you have diabetes from a fasting blood test?

Answers: If they cannot find any sugar in your urine, can they still find that you have diabetes from a fasting blood test?

yes because there will still be highg levels of glucose in your blood....if your urine test was negative it just means that your not spilling sugars into your urine yet it doesnt mean there are not high glucose levels

yes.....you will have a big number of ketones

It's difficult to be sure.
they can make diagnosis "diabetes" with you several times at least.

When glucose spills into the urine it means that the kidneys have reached their glucose threshold. There can also be minimal amounts of glucose in the urine without being diabetic. The fasting serum glucose level is the best indicator for diabetic people. Tests that may follow if the fasting level is >140 include: 3 hour glucose tolerance test and glycohemoglobin (hemoglobinA1C) testing. The 3 hr is a stimulation test, you're administered a dosage of glucose via "glucola" and they monitor you glu levels for three hours post stimulation. The HGA1C test is an indicator of how your glucose levels have been doing over (apx) the last 3 months.
