It's probably not an emergency. Symptoms include fast heart rate, weight loss, nervousness, sweating, feeling tired, and not being able to sleep well. Technically, yes, there is something called thyrotoxic crisis that a person could die of, but it's very, very rare (and overactive thyroid is pretty common) and usually only caused by an injury to the thyroid such as from having surgery on it.

No it's not an emergency. over time you will start to lose weight drastically though..you should get it treated.

there is such an emergency called thyroid storm.

I'm not sure , but I would ask the Doctor. , But if the Dr knows , and hasn't said anything then I'm sure its not an emergency , or they would, have said something

Weight loss is one of them. I don't think anyone has died from having an overactive thyroid unless they had thyroid cancer. Medication usually helps regulate the overactive thyroid. You can get more information at www.webmd.com.

Hello,

It could be what is called Thyroid storm. To diagnose this, a doctor would have to perform blood tests for the thyroid-stimulating hormone. Thyroid storm can lead to diseases, but what you're saying could be something else. You'll need to have them get it checked by a doctor..preferably an endocrinologist.

It depends on the degree of hyperactivity. It can cause death if neglected. Symptoms can be like anxiety, sweating, drought, swelling of the thyroid gland, hyper metabolism, feeling cold.

if you dont take the med that the doctor gives you. you could die.
