As you say you wouldn`t get the snot off the solicitors nose, but then you are like me, just Joe public with limited funds.
Money attracts money, if you can lay out thousands on a good brief, your half way there.
I agree, I know of someone else who is really disabled as a result of a hospital acquired infection, and he is not likely to get anything.
It does seem like one rule for the famous,
and another issue is the whole point of financially penalising a hospital who were strapped for cash in the first place! How is that going to help prevent infection??

If the infection was definitely acquired in hospital perhaps a no-win-no-fee lawyer might be the best person to advise you. He would of course require much more information than you have given here.
