Is there a birth control pill that helps with acne?!

Question: Help! Ever since I turned 26 (6 months ago) I've had a terrible case of acne around my mouth and my jaw line. I've spent about $400 at a skin care therapist and on really high end facial products. Nothing is completely taking away the acne. My skin specialist says it could be due to hormones. I have one week every month without breakouts and then the acne starts up again. So this leads me to believe that it could def be hormones. I'm thinking I want to try a birth control for acne.

Has anyone had any luck with this type of birth control? What kind did you use? Did you experience any negative/positive side effects?

(I have sensitive skin and products like Proactive are too harsh and do not work)

I've struggled with acne my whole adult life.. from age 18 to 36 (now).

I had very nice acne relief from a birth control pill called Apri.

But I've read that the best birth control pills for acne are the following: Yasmin?, Demulen? 1/50, Othro-Tri Cyclen?, Ortho-Cyclen?, Yasmin?, Brevicon?, Modicon?, Necon?, Ortho Evra?, Mircette?

Your best bet is to tell your doctor that you want to pick a type of birth control pill that is best for acne and that you want one that is least likely to convert to androgens... Then let your doctor suggest the best brand.

You ask about side effects. They are not uncommon, but they are different for everyone. My 1st 3 days on the pill I was nauseated, then I was fine. Some women gain or lose weight. Some women get headaches. Some women report lower sex drive or higher sex drive. Read the pharmacy insert carefully about the side effects to watch for.

The most dangerous thing about birth control pills is rarer. They can cause your blood to be a bit thicker or sticky and clot a little too much. At your age, this will only be a risk to you if you are sedentary (if you don't get regular exercise) or if you smoke or if you're exposed to secondhand smoke. A blood clot can be fatal if it breaks free and travels toward your brain or lungs. You're young, so as long as you get regular exercise and don't smoke, you probably have low risk of getting a blood clot from birth control pills.

Best of luck to you :-)

the pill works
my friend done it and it worked like a charm

I heard that the pill helps with acne...

Ortho Tri Cyclen does. I was on it for awhile, but I never really had skin problems.

I tried Yaz cuz they said it would help but I didn't see any difference

i have heard that Yaz is very good for your complexion.

Ortho Tri-Cyclen will help with acne.

According to their ads, Yaz is supposed to help.

yaz does it all weight loss, break outs, moods....its just the best

Honestly I don't use birth control, but I've heard alot of females tell me that... Your best bet would be calling the clinic or a pharmacist for information.

nuva ring is what i use it helps with acne it is in for 3 weeks and out for one so you dont have to take a pill every day but i hear yaz works good to

any type of birth control will help with skin problems. to be sure, ask your doctor about each type and they'll be able to tell you which one is right for you.

Yaz....it works WONDERS!!!!!

Birth Control pills can help with complexion issues...talk to your GYN. There are tons of different brands out there....they should know which one will help you the most. Also antibiotics can help acne.

Birth Control Pills have been associated with improved acne conditions for years....add a little antibiotic and you may have a solution! See your Doctor soon! KJL

Any birth control pill will help you with acne. I no longer use the pill and have acne now. It's so embarrassing.
