What home treatments have you tried to help treat Hidradenitis Suppurativa?!

Question: So far, I have tried hot compresses...black salve (drawing salve) on guaze bandage and also Campho Phenique on a guaze bandage. It all helps...but I wonder if there is anything a little less drying than the Campho Phenique (works great though because it helps the itching too and brings to a head). Also, the black salve is smelly and messy. Any other recommendations, and what are the side effects of them?

Hi snow,
I have been using a prescribed gel called clyndamicn phosphate. I seems to work better than , lets say neosporin.
I havent tried any black salve.. ( the gel is clear) or the campho that you say. I have had hs for about 9 years.
I would start a HS journal. Note what u ate for the day, where the boils are located.. if they got worse or better.. This way you can see what are the triggers for you to break out. ALWAYS the week before my period is the WORST! Right now I am in that time frame.. I have 2 next to each other in the frontal groin (left)... same side towards rear.. 2.. somewhat seperated.
Other side I have 2 front and back... small but getting bigger... I havent had this many in a while.. but I think its the coffee creamer that I have been using... Do u have a yahoo SN?? That way maybe we can chat back and forth.. its easier with the questions...
I also soak a cotton ball in witch hazel and hold on area... when I get out the shower... It seems to help. I ran out of my antibiotcs... so waiting on those.. but even then sometimes it seems that they dont help either!! I am open for chat whenever ;)

Dosnet sound good. YOu should be under the care of a Doctor. Here is what I have ... '

Treatment depends on how severe the condition is. Mild cases of hidradenitis suppurativa can be treated with warm compresses and anti-bacterial soap. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (one brand: Advil) can help to manage swelling.

More severe cases may require topical (applied to the skin) or oral (taken by mouth) antibiotics. For some people, hidradenitis suppurativa gets worse over time. Scarring can occur in the affected area. Some people may need surgery, which is the most effective treatment for severe, chronic hidradenitis suppurativa. In the worst cases, the entire area of affected skin is removed and replaced with a skin graft.
