Has anyone tried Mucinex? If so, did it work, and did you have any bad side effe!
Question: Does congestion have to be green and thick like the "lugey" they use for their spokesman, or does it help ANY congestion, even from allergies?
And is this the same stuff doctors used to prescribe as an expectorant? If so, how did it end up as being over-the-counter medication?

Possible side effects:
> MINOR ones: nausea; vomiting
> SEVERE ones: rash; hives; itching, difficulty breathing, swelling of the mouth, lips, or tongue; or tightness in the chest.
*A doctor should be notified of any MINOR ones.
**Seek immediate medical attention for any SEVERE ones
Mucinex is an OTC that liquifies mucus. That's why it's good as an expectorant in cough meds. The generic is Guifinesin and it is made from a plant.
It works for unplugging sinuses that are clogged by thick mucus but probably wouldn't do a lot for allergies as the mucus membranes tend to be swollen and noses and eyes "run" instead of being plugged by thick mucus.
Some studies have shown that it is helpful in treating fibromyalgia as one school of thought is that some of the pain is caused by thick mucus in synovial spaces.
It has been proven to cause, nasal cavity veins to rupture,you may want to ask a doctor what you can take....it was on the news about 2 mos ago....
I have and itworks very good and no side effects what so ever.
