How do you know if you have an ingrown toe nail?!

Question: I mean for sure. And how do you treat it?

Answers: I mean for sure. And how do you treat it?

Basically, it hurts like h*ll. The nail presses into the skin on the sides of the nail...
Early on, it is easier to deal with because it hurts less and is less likely to be infected. Do NOT cut it though. If you can, soak the foot in warm water with sea salt or epsom salt. Wash your hands really well with an antibacterial soap first. Afterward the foot soaks, use a nail file to gently file the part of the nail that is digging into the skin (very gently pull back on the skin to get to the nail). You do not want to dramatically change the shape...it can make the problem worse as the nail grows back. Afterwards, you might want to put on some hydrogen peroxide and/or neosporin and a band aid. you can keep doing the soaks a couple times a day for the next few days, if there is still pain.

I think it starts growing into the skin and boy it hurts

EVERYBODY HAS IT. GET A NIPPER AND CUT IT CAREFULLY.

when you press down with your toe or foot it really hurts or whre you think it is ingrowing it will be red

IT HURTS! it usually get infected and if you squeeze pus will come out. Dig out the part of the nail that ingrown and clean it with hydrogen peroxide.

In the corners of your toe(s) it will hurt when you touch or squeeze it. Also, if it's a redish color in the corners that's another sign. Or if you see a sigh of infection.

Because they hurt, really bad. You will have trouble wearing shoes for sure. You can operate on yourself, which is how I have always removed mine, you just have to go in the corner of your nail bed with clippers and make a cut, then pull the piece out closest to your skin, it will hurt too...bad! The doctor can cut them out and fix it to where you never get another one but it is pricey if no insurance. Be sure if you operate on yourself to pour some peroxide on your toe when you are finished.
