What's the difference between total capacity and vital capasity...?!


Question: I'm talking about respiratory system and these two terms look the same...I don't get it...somebody explain it plz!!!

Total lung capacity is the amount that your lungs can hold when you take a huge breath. It's about 1500 to 2500 cc. Vital capacity is the amount that you need to inhale per breath to maintain adequeate oxygen levels (about 500 cc).
