What is wrong with my throat and my gum? What can these symtoms be? Please help.!

Question: I asked a part of this question a few days ago. I have a widsom tooth that is chipped due to a cavity but its not bothering me. My gum right behind it is swollen and is in a bubble shape expanding over the chipped tooth. It hurts and is soft. I also have a sore thoat only on the side where my gum is swollen. I looked at the back of my throat and it has some small bumps and has some white patches. My mom was telling me about a study she saw on TV on oral cancer and how alot of people are getting it. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow afternoon. I'm worried. Does anyone have any idea what can this be? I've had these symtoms for 5 days already and it hasnt gotten better nor worse.

It probably isn't cancer. It is just an abscess that is getting out of control. An abscess is bacteria and it is most likely spreading which is giving you a sore throat. The doc will probably give you some antibiotics and send you on your way. Don't worry sweetie!

i had an abcess on my gum to and all that happened was that the dentist pulled the tooth and drained the abcess.... no biggy ... cant feel a thing

Your gum is most likely infected, or absessed like the dude said. The other symptoms are similar to trench mouth. Probably from putting your finger on your gums to feel how swollen it is.
