Help with HPV?!

Question: I was diagnosed with HPV over a year ago. The high risk strand that causes cervical cancer. I was tested three more times after that and everything came back normal, does that mean it's gone? Also i've read it's skin to skin contact..does that include oral sex as well? Also, my OBGYN told me that HPV isn't necessarily transmitted during sex, she said they've done lots of studies and virgins, nuns, and monogomous people have had it.

My mom called me a whore and im hurt. I tried explaining to her and she won't listen to me.

Your Mom is an idiot, excuse me for saying but I read a statistic just the other day that said 85% of Americans have or has had HPV in their lifetime (many not even knowing they have it!), they are even starting to administer shots to teenagers to prevent it! That just tells you how very common it's getting. Your Mom needs to educate herself before she goes off and makes assumptions & hurtful name calling...hello, you're getting married and she's very lucky to have a Daughter that tolerates her foolish talk!! If that was my Mom--constantly ridiculing me--I'd say BUH-BYE

Question...Did you have a check up since you & Hubby first got together & it came back clean before? If so and you're in a monogomous relationship I'd be ticked at him!

Many people have it and don't even know it. You at least know and can keep up on your check ups. See if your OBGYN has any information you can give your mom. They probably have pamphlets with information.

The virus can be cleared by your immune system and be gone for years. Sometimes the infection reoccurs if your immune system is depressed, sometimes it is clear forever. Apparently one third of people with HPV contracted it off their first sexual partner, so you shouldn't feel like a slag.

Gather all the info that you can, and give that to your mother. HPV is a very serious matter, and if you have it, she could too. Remember when the issue really came out to the media? There was all the discussion over whether or not it should be a required vaccine for all young women going to school. Your mother probably doesn't understand the whole issue. HPV can be transmitted through oral sex. Just take care of yourself. If your mother still doesn't understand after you have educated her, just tell her that you have done nothing to shame her, you respect yourself, and that this is a natural occurance, and it is actually better that you found out so you can be better prepared and protected against cervical cancer, and that as you are her daughter, that is most important. xo ches!! good luck!!
